The Contemporary Stage Festival
The Ibsen Festival and the Contemporary Stage Festival are both held biennially in alternate years.
Today’s contemporary drama is set to become the classical works of tomorrow. The National Theatre of Norway has always monitored contemporary drama in its search for timeless quality, and with the advent of the Contemporary Stage Festival in 2000 this work received a tremendous boost. Like The International Ibsen Festival - the Contemporary Stage Festival consists of international guest performances, the Theatre’s own productions and a number of other activities such as seminars and debates.
